Macro Project 1.1:
Serial Vision
This project started the year as an introduction to the architecture course in which we had to explore Newcastle Upon Tyne, focusing on a selection of streets provided within the brief. The final outcome was for us to produce a series of six drawings forming a serial vision down our choosen street.
I chose Pink Lane as my street due to it containing many different 'moments' where it physically made me stop and take in my surroundings, something the other sites did not really allow me to engage much.
As show on the left are my final six images that would be turned into my final drawings.
The final two images, differ from the rest as these are taken coming off Pink Lane and it was here that I wanted to explore the possiblity that even though the six images are only six images, the serial vision could continue or even create a new serial vision altogether, this idea is captured best in the final image with the reveal of an interesting building being situated between two pieces of old brick wall leaving whoever is witnessing the drawings guessing what comes next

From the photographs above these are my final six drawings of Pink Lane.
With the simple "Less is more" approach to these drawings I wanted to create drawings out of simple pencil line with a dash of colour within each one. This idea was taken from the 'moments' I experienced such as the tree in the first image or the bright orange shop at the end of the street.
Interestingly the way that Pink Lane is situated even for a long distance away, the bright orange shop can be seen at the far end without obstruction, It was this orange shop that I decided to be my main focal point throughout half of the serial vision. With each one inching closer towards it more and more detail would be exposed.
Overal I found this part of the project welcoming, it allowed me to refresh the skills I had not used for sometime and also it made me to become excited for what was in store in my next project. Ironically, exactly how I wanted the viewer to experience the last panel in my serial vision.

Macro Project 1.1:
Group Mapping Project
For the second and shorter part of the project we were put into groups, with the task of creating a map of Newcastle which highlighted the route of the streets from the first part of the project.
Our final design centered around the phrase "Society is Connected."
This design concluded with the map being half suspended above with minature models of existing buildings and points of interest also being suspended with many different connections.
The group in terms of its overall dynamic were relaxed. Without a designated leader of the group we all took it upon ourselves to take the time to listen to everyone's ideas and tried to either incorporate or adapt them into other ideas.
This I found to work well as there were no diagreements or altercations.
